A measured survey is the starting point for accurate planning drawings and Building Regulations drawings. It is especially valuable for house extensions, flat conversions and older buildings where no reliable plans exist.

Measured building survey services record the existing building as it really is: room sizes, wall thicknesses, window and door positions, floor and ceiling levels and roof heights. We measure on site, build an accurate existing model in Revit and produce existing floor plans, elevations and sections. Every proposal we draw afterwards sits on that model, so extensions, conversions and alterations fit the building first time.

Areas we cover
Residential projects across West Sussex, East Sussex and Surrey, with site visits and local planning knowledge. Developer and commercial projects are delivered across England.
The existing building is modelled in Revit, so the survey is not a flat record but a 3D base you can see rendered in Enscape alongside the proposals.
Because design starts on the survey model, there is no second round of tracing or redrawing, which saves time and removes a common source of error.
ArchEvolve surveys homes and commercial buildings across West Sussex, East Sussex and Surrey, from period properties to modern houses and converted commercial units.
Alex Page carries out the survey himself and then designs the project, so the person who measured the building is the one drawing the proposals.
The survey records every room, wall, opening, level and external elevation of the building. We then issue existing floor plans, elevations, sections and a roof plan, all cut from a single Revit model that becomes the base for your design.
Original plans rarely match the building as it stands. Walls move during construction, earlier owners alter layouts and older drawings are often schematic. Designing from inaccurate plans leads to proposals that do not fit, so we always measure the building as it is today.
A measured survey records the building itself. A topographical survey records the land: levels, boundaries, trees and services, usually carried out by a specialist land surveyor. Sloping plots, self-build sites and new builds often need both, and we coordinate the two.
No. A measured survey records dimensions and layout for design. A building survey by a chartered surveyor assesses condition and defects, and a structural engineer assesses structure. Many projects need a measured survey plus one of these, and we can advise which.
Most applications require existing and proposed plans and elevations, so an accurate record of the existing building is essential. The survey model feeds directly into our planning drawings, so existing and proposed drawings always match.
Most houses can be measured in a single visit, while larger, older or more complex buildings may need longer. We confirm the expected time when we arrange access, and the drawings follow once the model has been built and cross-checked.
Yes. Older buildings have irregular walls, uneven floors and hand-built details, so they need extra care to record accurately. A careful survey is the starting point for any listed building design work, where the council will expect the existing fabric to be properly understood.
Yes. The existing drawings are dimensioned and issued as PDFs for your builder, structural engineer or other consultants. When the project moves forward, the same model is developed into construction drawings, so everyone works from the same base.
